History of the University of Pannonia
1949/50 The Faculty of Heavy Chemistry of the Technical University of Budapest was established in Veszprém.
1950/51 The faculty became an independent university in 1951 under the name of Veszprém University of Chemical Engineering.
1956/57 The university offered in 9 majors a 10 semester curriculum.
1959/60 The first Doctoral certificates in Engineering were handed.
1969/70 A two-stage graduation was introduced (B.Eng. / M.Eng.).
1971/72 A joint educational training in agricultural chemistry was started as an inter-university cooperation between the Veszprém University of Chemical Engineering and the Keszthely Georgikon Faculty of Agriculture.
1973/74 A new programme, Chemical Engineering Management, was started.
1984/85 Instrumentation and Metrology jointly with the Electrical Engineering Faculty of the Technical University of Budapest were introduced.
1990/91 The new name of our institution became University of Veszprém. In addition to the two existing faculties, the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Teacher Training were established.
1993/94 At the Faculty of Engineering - first in the country - two new majors Engineering Management and Environmental Engineering were launched.
1994/95 First in the country Theatre Studies were introduced at the Faculty of Teacher Training
1997/98 The Hungarian Accreditation Committee qualified the University of Veszprém as accredited.
1999/00 The Pedagogical Research Institute in Pápa was established.
2000/01 In January the University of Veszprém integrated the Georgikon Faculty of Agriculture, Keszthely. The off-site campus in Nagykanizsa starts to function. The university expanded its institutional network to all over Transdanubia.
2001/02 The PhD Schools start to function.
2003/04 The University becomes a 5-faculty institution: two institutions have been accredited as faculties. The Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Information Technology were introduced.
2004/05 Among the first in the country BSc in Informatics is launched as a pilot project.
2005/06 The new, two-cycle system according to the Bologna model (bachelor and master courses) started at all faculties.
2006 The new name of our institution has become University of Pannonia from 1 March. The Institute of Vocational Training (feln?ttképzési intézet) was established.
